World cup action from every game in minutes

EMPICS will deliver record levels of pictures to customers faster from the 2006 World Cup in Germany this summer. Working closely with sister company, PA Sport, the PA Group team will be supplying picture, editorial and data services to traditional and broadcast media, plus web and mobile customers, including SMS alerts, MMS stories, web headline packages and multimedia bulletins.

Whatever the action, whatever the emotion, our team will capture the moments on and off the pitch from every game.

A team of seven photographers will cover all 64 games using real-time digital photography delivery system, ShootLive. Using ShootLive, the team will be the only photography team to deliver thumbnail images of the action to picture editors in just 1 second, followed by high resolution pictures within 2 minutes of camera click. Pictures will go out live on the wire to PA subscribers, and will be available online within minutes of the action happening, to the wider media, serviced by a team of sports experts.

An unrivalled and extensive football archive is also accessible online, including a comprehensive library of players and teams, past and present, and pictures from every post-war World cup tournament.

Supporting the picture service, PA Sport will send a team of ten football correspondents and six multimedia reporters. Correspondents will report direct from England's training base and the German team on a daily basis. Also on the team, former England Captain David Platt will provide expert analysis before and after every England match, and a weekly column will be provided by the FA Director of Football Development Sir Trevor Brooking.
