PA Photographers win at 2006 Picture Editor Awards

Three Press Association photographers won prizes last night at the 2006 Picture Editor Awards, which recognises the very best in photographic journalism throughout the UK and Ireland.

Andrew Parsons won the Photo Essay Award for his portfolio of pictures from Michael Howard's election campaign, in what was a keenly contested and hugely popular category this year.

Phil Noble won the Sports Photographer of the Year Award, while Edmond Terokopian received a special award in the News Photographer of the Year Award for his picture of a survivor of the July 7 bombings in London. Edmond's coverage of the London bombings in July has also earned him recognition at both the British Press Awards earlier this week and the World Press Awards last month.

Presentations were made at Guildhall in the City of London by Charles Kennedy. The occasion is one of the highlights of the year for picture editors and photographers across the UK and Ireland.
