PA Photographer wins Photographer of the Year award
PA Photographer, David Cheskin, has received the Photographer of the Year award for the second year running at the First ScotRail Press Photography Awards, held in Glasgow on 4th April 2007.
Cheskin is only the second photographer to win the top accolade over two consecutive years in the 30-year history of the awards.
His vivid images include boxer Alex Arthur throwing a punch at Ricky Burns during a match at Edinburgh's Meadowbank Stadium; an African street child; Shetland's 'Up Helly A' Festival; Gordon Brown 'enjoying' the Labour Party Conference in Oban; and the most pierced woman in the world during last year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Chairman of the judges, former Fleet Street editor Ken Lennox said, "Yet again, David has impressed us with his sheer versatility. He has a good eye for a great picture."
David Cheskin was also been nominated in the News Picture of the Year and the Picture Essay of the Year. His colleague, Andrew Milligan, was nominated for the Photographer of the Year.
