New RightsClear service

Leading editorial picture agency, EMPICS has launched the RightsClear service in partnership with image rights and IP legal specialists, Couchman Harrington Associates (CHA).

Customers wishing to make use of images within commercial or promotional campaigns can now receive specialist legal advice and rights clearance on the use of images through CHA's RightsClear service.

David Williams, Business Development Director said, "Image rights can be a complex and confusing area, particularly for commercial use. RightsClear gives customers the peace of mind they need when running campaigns. The Couchman Harrington team provides legal advice and clearance, so clients don't need to pull an advert at the last minute. A number of clients are already receiving advice and we'll be actively promoting the service for the rest of the year."

There are a number of levels of service available depending on customer requirements. These range from RightsClear Snapshot, providing advice on the risks of licensing a specific image, to RightsClear Total, where CHA will clear an image with the relevant rights holders on the client's behalf.

Senior CHA solicitor, Nick White said, "We believe the RightsClear offering, with its three elements of content clearance negotiation, fixed fee legal advice, and specialist IP insurance is unique. We are extremely pleased to be working with a content agency of EMPICS' calibre and are looking forward to helping their customers find solutions in what can be a very tricky area."
