GameOn service wins Global Mobile Award
The GameOn FA Premier League mobile service has won the Best Made for Mobile Infotainment for Sports & News Content in the 2007 Global Mobile Awards.
Up against stiff competition, the judges reported the GameOn service as, "a clear uncomplicated service that plays perfectly to the sports fan - it clusters together all the information you'd be interested in if you weren't at the game itself."
The Global Mobile Awards have been described as the Oscars of the mobile industry, recognising the best in field in a highly skilled and creative industry.
GameOn offers mobile consumers in-game coverage of the FA Premier League. The service uses the ShootLive real-time photo delivery process to combine pictures from the UK's leading sports photographers with live text commentary, official data and match information from PA Sport. Content is optimised for every major handset within 90 seconds of the action taking place on the pitch.
Commenting on the award, Steven Brown, PA Group managing director said, "I am delighted that the GameOn FA Premier League service has won. As the national agency for the UK & Ireland, our focus is to develop innovative ways to deliver fair and accurate information on the platforms that our customers demand. This is a tremendous achievement and recognition for the team and our partners who have worked so hard to deliver the service to consumers."
Rob Conway, CEO of the GSM Association, said: "Achieving success in the global mobile industry requires a combination of innovation, expertise, tenacity and confidence - but the key ingredient is a knowledge of what the market needs to move forward in the new mobile era. The 2007 winners are recognised as having turned that knowledge into practical services and solutions that capture mobile users' needs."
