The Sport & General collection covers UK 20th century news, sport, personalities and events.
Highlights include informal pictures of the royal family from the 1940s, classic shots of British media, TV & radio personalities from the 1930s, plus British politicians, actors and musicians from the same period.
As one of the most important sports collections of the last century, the archive includes unique photography from soccer, cricket, rugby, golf, horse-racing and boxing, amongst many other sports.
Sport & General was the only agency with access to Lord's Cricket Ground from the 1930s up to 1972. It had similar arrangements at Edgbaston and Old Trafford. It had exclusive coverage of international and club rugby at Twickenham.
